More Than Just Breakfast
If you ask our kids what they want for dinner, one answer comes up more than almost anything else.
“Breakfast!”
At our house, breakfast isn’t just for mornings. In fact, we probably have breakfast for dinner at least once a week.
There’s just something about waffles, eggs, bacon, and fruit that brings everyone to the table with a smile.
And at the center of many of those meals is our waffle maker.

When One Waffle Iron Isn’t Enough
Most families can make breakfast with one waffle maker.
Not ours.
With a large family, one waffle at a time would mean someone is always eating while someone else is still waiting.
So we usually have two waffle irons going at once.
It’s become a bit of a family production line.
One person mixes the batter.
Someone pours it into the waffle makers.
Someone else sets the table.
Before long, everyone is gathered around a stack of fresh waffles.
It’s one of those simple routines that turns into a family memory.
Our Kids Make Their Own Waffles
One of the things we appreciate most about our waffle maker is how easy it is for our kids to use.
As they’ve gotten older, they’ve learned to make breakfast themselves instead of waiting for Mom or Dad.
Watching our kids gain confidence in the kitchen has been one of the unexpected blessings of cooking together.
Some of our favorite mornings are the ones when we wake up to the smell of waffles because one of the kids decided to surprise the family.

One Breakfast We’ll Never Forget
One day while Mom was away, one of our children decided to make waffles for everyone else.
No one asked.
No one assigned the job.
They simply saw an opportunity to serve.
That breakfast wasn’t memorable because the waffles were perfect.
It was memorable because it reminded us that teaching kids to cook is really about teaching them to care for other people.
Moments like that are worth far more than the cost of a waffle maker.
Everyone Has Their Favorite Toppings
The fun doesn’t stop when the waffles come off the iron.
Everyone has their own favorite combination.
Some keep it simple with pure maple syrup.
Others load theirs with whipped cream.
Nutella is always a favorite.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether breakfast is becoming dessert… and honestly, we’re okay with that once in a while.
Why We Love Breakfast for Dinner
Breakfast foods have a way of slowing life down.
They’re easy to make.
Everyone likes them.
And somehow they turn an ordinary weeknight into something that feels just a little more special.
When life gets busy, breakfast for dinner is one of our favorite ways to bring everyone back around the table.

Final Thoughts
Some kitchen appliances save time.
Some save money.
Our waffle maker has done something even better.
It has helped our kids learn to cook, given them opportunities to serve each other, and created countless breakfasts and dinners that have brought our family together.
Years from now, I don’t think our kids will remember which waffle maker we owned.
I think they’ll remember standing around the kitchen, waiting for the next waffle to come off the iron, deciding whether to top it with whipped cream, Nutella, or pure maple syrup.
Those are the moments that make a house feel like home.
